Delabombell To Do It Again

Local galloper Delabombell appreciated the drop in grade to win last time and now with her confidence back can continue the form in today's Food On The Run Handicap (race 4) at Canberra.

The mare had been racing in the city until she returned home to score last start in a Benchmark 70 and should go close again in this Benchmark 71 over 1206m today.

Four back she ran a great race when third over 1100m in a Benchmark 80 at Rosehill, running on from midfield on the turn.

She then tackled the same grade but over 1100m on heavy ground at Randwick, this time sitting closer in the run and turning fourth before finishing a two length fifth.

Again over 1100m but in a Benchmark 70 at Canterbury she drew the outside gate and settled third but deep throughout without cover, turning third but fading after the tough run to finish ninth.

She was beaten only a few lengths so the effort was sound without placing.

Trainers Barbara Joseph and Paul Jones decided to bring her home last time where she tackled a Benchmark 70 on the Acton Track.

Sitting third in the small field, she sprinted quickly in the straight and ran on for a 1.5 length win over Moorings Capital.

Although meeting that horse 1.5kg worse at the weight here Delabombell looks well placed again in this small field.

Last start was her first try on the Acton track and she handled it aplomb, and from gate two today will be immediately on the speed and will give a big sight again.

Moorings Capital ran well behind Delabombell last start and with the run under her belt looks hard to hold out again.

The mare, a winner at her only try at this track and distance, was resuming last time over the 1080m and after settling last and turning there ran on well into second.

She is fitter and well placed by the slightly longer trip.

She meets the winner better at the weights and will give her a run for her money again.

Pray To God is a talented mare resuming for the Nick Olive yard and should be hitting the line well.

With six wins form just 16 starts she has a good record on her home turf but is yet to race on the Acton course.

But she is a fresh-up winner and should be running on hard here.

He's In Demand, another local galloper, has been kept fresh since his last start win here and should give a sight in the small field.

The gelding ran well below his bets here on the turf before a short let-up, the raced on the Acton over 1080m at the start of the month.

Although he generally raced on the speed but bombed the start this time and after turning second last motored home to score a comprehensive win.

He meets a tougher line-up here but drops in weight after the claim and with a better start will be on the speed and hard to run down.
