Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Saturday’s meeting at Flemington.
Dusty Jack (Race 1) is challenging for favouritism at $3.60 after being backed in a half point early. He is in terrific form winning his past three starts and while facing a tougher challenge the punters believe he is up to it.
Hursley (Race 2) has been a frustration for punters of late but they are giving him another chance and have backed him into favouritism at $3.20, almost a point shorter than his initial quote. He was a last start second at this course and gets the services of Joao Moreira this time.
Eshtiraak (Race 4) hails from the Hayes-Dabernig team who are flying with their juveniles this season and the punters believe they will land another feature. He has been backed to the verge of an odds on quote at $2.05, more than a point shorter than his opening price.
I Am A Star (Race 5) is a Group 1 winning filly dropping from an elite level open sprint race to fillies grade. Those factors have seen her backed as a hot favourite to $2 after more $3.20 was available in the early stages of betting.
Pure Pride (Race 6) remains each way value at $5 after firming two points early. The mare will be fitter second up after closing well for third when resuming and was beaten less than a length when flashing home in the G1 Myer Classic last spring.
Jameka (Race 8) has taken over at the head of the market at $3.80 having firmed close to a point. The mare has two big wins on her resume in the Caulfield Cup and the Crown Oaks, the latter at this course, and the punters are backing her to peak third up.
Rocket Tommy (Race 9) opened at each way odds but his price has almost been halved to $3.80 with TopBetta fixed odds. He is up in grade but is in flying form winning his past two starts and the punters are sticking with him.
