Gold Coast Double For Choisir

Choisir took his stakes winners tally to 81 with a black type double at the Gold Coast on Saturday by Taking Aim and Religify.

Taking Aim (Choisir x Girl Hussler by Hussonet) was second in the Listed Talindert Stakes at Flemington in February and did enough to take out to the G3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) to provide Choisir with his 80th stakes winner.

Number 81 came when Religfy (Chosir x Sacred Witness by El Moxie) proved to classy in the Listed Prime Minister’s Cup (1400m).

Chosir is the sire of 11 G1 winners and will have a profound influence for years to come through his sire sons that include Olympic Glory, Starspangledbanner, The Last Lion and Divine Prophet.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Taking Aim is bound for a tilt at the G1 JJ Atkins Stakes (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 10 after breaking his maiden.

Raced by a partnership including Newgate Farm, China Horse Club and Aquis Farm, Taking Aim (Choisir x Girl Hussler by Hussonet) was purchased for $520,000 from the draft of Segenhoe Stud at the 2016 Easter Yearling Sale and has now earned $123,550 prize money.

He is out of the stakes winner Girl Hussler and is a half-brother to the winner Manuel (Commands). His unraced second dam is a half-sister to the stakes winner Dual Hemisphere (Danehill Dancer).

The 6YO Religify was purchased for $135,000 at the 2012 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Coolmore Stud and is out of Sacred Witness, a daughter of Jade Cherie (Bureaucracy).

Jade Cherie is a half-sister to the dual G1 winner Silent Witness (El Moxie) and the G2 winner Sister Madly (Redoute’s Choice).

Godolphin import It’s Somewhat continued his triumphant autumn campaign with his third win from three starts this preparation in the G2 AD Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast.

The 6YO son of Dynaformer, winner of the G1 Doncaster Mile at his previous start, was the last winner prepared by John O’Shea on his last day as head trainer for Godolphin.

It’s Somewhat (Dynaformer x Sometime by Royal Academy) has had 32 career starts, winning nine times and placing on a further ten occasions, for prize money of $3,143,679.

The gelding is one of ten foals out of the unraced Royal Academy mare Sometime, a sister to the G1 miler Ali-Royal and G1 1000 Guineas winner Sleepytime.

It’s Somewhat is a half-brother to seven winners including the G3 winner Art Deco (Peintre Celebre) and the stakes winner Zamlaan (Alzao).

His second dam is the stakes winner Alidiva (Chief Singer) and he is related to multiple G1 winner Taipan (Last Tycoon) and the US G2 winner Oonagh Maccool (Giant’s Causeway).

The six-year-old is one of 132 stakes winners by the late Roberto stallion Dynaformer (Roberto), who died in 2012 at the age of 27.

I Am Invincible sired his 21st stakes winner when Toowoomba-trained filly With A Promise won the Listed Silk Stocking at the Gold Coast in a huge upset.

The Ben Currie-trained With A Promise (I Am Invincible x Danrese by Hurricane Sky), an $81 chance, defeated Sydney mare Nancy by a nose.

With A Promise was purchased for $26,000 by Boomer Bloodstock at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Corumbene Stud. She has now earned over $140,000 from 11 starts.

I Am Invincible is currently fourth in the Australian general sires table by earnings.

Bel Esprit filly Sweet Sherry provided Sutton Grange-based trainer Brent Stanley with a boost at Morphettville when she won the $500,000 Euclase Stakes.

Previously a dual Listed winner, Sweet Sherry gave former Caulfield Cup winning jockey Stanley with the biggest victory in his career as a trainer.

Stanley purchased the filly for $260,000 at the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale in 2015 from the draft of Swettenham Stud and is among the 23 stakes winners by her sire Bel Esprit.

Sweet Sherry (Bel Esprit x Amoroso by Revoque) has won times in 12 starts for prize money of $653,300.

She is one of six named foals out of the stakes placed mare Amoroso (Revoque) and is a half-sister to two winners including the dual G2 winner Arinosa (Dash For Cash) and stakes-placed Onerous (Dash For Cash).

Her second dam Willow Brook (Sir Tristram) is a half-sister to the G2 winner Royal Treasure (Royal Academy).

THE G1 Tattersall’s Tiara is the likely aim for Love Conquers All filly Savanna Amour following her victory in the G3 Gold Coast Guineas.

A $100,000 purchase by Ontrack Thoroughbreds at the 2015 Classic Yearling Sale Savanna Amour defeated Kiwi visitor Heroic Valour (Fastnet Rock) by a nose with a short neck to a very unlucky Tessera (Medaglia d’Oro).

Manhattan Rain sired his tenth stakes winner when the 2YO colt Indian Thunder landed the Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes at Morphettville.

Indian Thunder is trained by Darren Weir who purchased the colt for $140,000 at last year’s Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Tyreel Stud.

Indian Thunder (Manhatan Rain x Whisper Bay by Royal Academy) was having his second start after running second on debut at Bendigo on April 19.

He has a half-brother by Zoustar catalogued at this week’s Scone Yearling Sale.
