Alfred Noble Impresses In WA

The Danehill Dancer import Alfred Nobel is starting to build an excellent reputation with his progeny in Western Australia.

Standing at Lynward Park Stud at Bullsbrook in WA, he had two juvenile winners at Belmont Park in less than a week this month with the fillies Stored Energy on May 14 and Undisclosed on May 18.

Trained by Stan Bates, Stored Energy has raced seven times for two wins including the Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic while UNdiscloised was making her debut for the Colin Webster stable after wining two trials.

Undisclosed is from Agra, a Melbourne winner by the Kenmare sire Keltrice from a half-sister to Rogan Josh, the WA stayer Rogan Josh who won the Melbourne Cup for Bart Cummings.

A son of the Kaoru Star sire Old Spice, Rogan Josh won 13 races, including the LKS Mackinnon Stakes, Herbert Power Stakes, Bunbury Cup and Pinjarra Cup.

Stored Energy and Undisclosed are two of four winners from nine second crop 2YOs by Alfred Nobel, a G1 winner as 2YO.

Alfred Nobel made a good start to his stud career in WA in 2014-15 when his first crop of six runners included the winners Showy Chloe (WA Sires’ Produce Stakes) and Regal Gleam and Dickey, third in the Perth Magic Millions.

At three the Jason Pateman trained Showy Chloe has been a Listed winner and placegetter.

Fellow Albert Nobel 3YOs include the winners Black Dynamite, It’s Dynamite and The Blue Nipper.

Initially a dual hemisphere sire, Alfred Nobel is now a resident at Lynward Park but has been represented in the northern hemisphere by winners in Ireland, Great Britain, Italy, Germany and Norway.

His speed dominated pedigree includes 3x4 inbreeding to Danzig.

He is the result of the mating of Danehill Dancer with Glinting Desert, a winner by the Green Desert sire Desert Prince from Dazzling Park, a champion Warning filly out of Ahonoora’s champion mare Park Express.

Dazzling Park is one of three major winners from Park Express, the others being shuttle sires Shinko Forest and New Approach.

• PERTH trainer Vern Brockman paid the top price of $54,000 at the annual Yarradale Stud yearling sale on May 22 for a colt by Scandal Keeper.

The youngster is the final foal from Smytzer’s Bouquet (Marscay), a Bendigo winner at her only start for Tony Santic and dam of the accomplished Perth winner Dance Works (Royal Academy).

Scandal Keeper (Danzig) was a Newmarket winner for Sheikh Mohammed and his three-quarter sister is the dam of Sepoy.

He has sired 20 individual winners including five stakes performers from 48 starters.

A Blackfriars filly was purchased by trainer Jim Taylor for $41,000. She is the second foal of the Ascot winner Public Perception (Charge Forward).

Champion Yarradale stallion War Chant had filly from Classic Miss (Bletchley Park) knocked down to Gavin Foster for $40,000.

The sale closed with 27 lots sold for an average of $24,592. Leading trainer Adam Durrant purchased three yearlings and other multiple buyers included Aquanita Racing’s Simon Miller, Dan Morton and Steve Wolfe.

The majority of lots failing to make their reserves were later leased by Yarradale Stud owner Ron Sayers.
