Press Statement (Hinchinbrook x Kaaptive Empress by Kaaptive Edition) and Pressday are two of four winners out of Kaaptive Empress, a daughter of the Listed winner Nile Empress (Upper Nile).
Her winning daughter Maybe Yes (Last Tycoon) produced the G1 winner The Mighty Lions (Grosvenor), dam of six winners including G3 winner Vaquera (High Chaparral).• DANE Shadow’s son Shellscrape was represented by his first winner when first starter Noble Joey won at Nowra on Saturday.
The 2YO Noble Joey, by Shellscrape from Princess Fiorella (Chief Bearhart) is trained at Nowra by Robert Price.Shellscrape, promoted to winner of the G1 ATC Galaxy in 2010 was retired to stud in 2011 but was returned to training in 2013 after many of his first-crop foals were born without tails.
• CHOISIR gelding Frespanol gave the Gai Waterhouse stable another feature win at the winter carnival when he landed his first black type win in the Listed Spear Chief Quality at Doomben on Saturday.
A $130,000 Inglis Easter Sale purchase for Waterhouse and James Harron Bloodstock from the Edinglassie Stud draft, Frespanol has now won five races with seven placings from 17 starts with prizemoney topping $320,000.
Frespanol is a half-brother to the stakes-winner Essington from the G3 winner Besame Mucho (Encosta De Lago).Frespanol is the 68th stakes-winner for his sire Choisir and his eighth in Australia this season.
• EXCEED And Excel gelding Mohave defied all challengers to record his second stakes win in the Listed Queensland Day Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.Mohave is the first foal to race out of the G3 placed Margham and comes from the family of G1 performers Desert Vixen, Valid Appeal, Real Shadai and Millennium.
Margham foaled a Commands colt in October and is set to foal a full relation to Mohave this season.• YOUNG Queensland sire Real Saga was represented by his fourth stakes winner when his 2YO filly Sagaronne swamped the leaders in Saturday’s Listed Phoenix at Doomben.
Trained by Toby Edmonds, Sagaronne was having just her third start and was stepping up from a maiden win on her home track at the Gold Coast.Edmonds purchased Sagaronne for $82,500 at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale from the draft of Glenlogan Park.
The filly is the third winner from three to race for the stakes winning Oarsman mare Lasoron, a winner of seven races and earner of over $347,000.Lasoron is also the dam of Brisbane winner Grapevine and the multiple winner Flash Of Heart.
