Anabaa's three-quarter brother Country Reel earned his first Australian stakes winner and sixth worldwide when Spinnawitch won the Listed Winter Challenge at Warwick Farm on Saturday.
Country Reel shuttled to Australia for two seasons in 2005 and 2006 and has since been based in Europe.
Spinnawitch (Country Reel x Zerelda, by Zabeel) is the winner of three races from 14 starts and earnings of $153,160.
She is out of the metropolitan winning Zabeel mare Zerelda, who is the dam of two winners from five foals including the three-time winner So Bewitching (Fusaichi Pegasus).
Spinnawitch's is the first stakes winner in two generations of her family and is the 96th stakes winner for Zabeel as a broodmare sire.
Spinnawitch's victory provided fledgling trainer Jarrod Austin his first winning double after his two-year-old Urquidez (Street Sense) also won at Warwick Farm.
Spinnawitch and Urquidez make up a quarter of Austin's eight-horse team.
Austin was a long-time foreman for trainer Denise McGrath and took over her team 12 months ago when she decided to concentrate on breeding.
The five-year-old Spinnawitch, stakes placed as a 3YO, returned from 14 months on the sidelines with a first-up win at Warwick Farm two weeks ago.
