Black Magic, the first Northern hemisphere starter by shuttle stallion Poet's Voice, got the young sire off to a perfect start winning on his racecourse debut at Pontefract in the UK.
The Richard Fahey-trained colt travelled superbly throughout and eased clear during the closing stages to win the five-furlong contest by three lengths.
Poet’s Voice, by Dubawi, won the G2 Champagne Stakes as a juvenile and at three won the G1 QEII Stakes and the G2 Celebration Mile by four and a half lengths.
He was Europe’s leading first-season sire at the sales last year, averaging £110,000 while his first-crop yearlings offered this year in Australia have sold for up to $140,000.
