Adds another stakes victory to her resume with an impressive ten length victory
Gamine (Into Mischief) added another stakes race to her resume in Monday’s Great Lady M Stakes (Gr 2, 6.5f) at Los Alamitos, scoring by an impressive ten lengths, her sixth win at Graded level.
Taken, as usual, to the front by John Velazquez, Gamine stormed down the home straight to pull right away from her rivals in an easy victory. The Simon Callaghan-trained Bella Vita (Bayern) finished in second with Road Rager (Quality Road) a neck further away in third.
Gamine is trained by Bob Baffert for Michael Lund Petersen and has now won eight of her nine career starts with her career prize money now totalling over US$1.4 million and four of those victories have come at Grade One level.
"That's what great horses do. When she runs I get nervous and I'm more relieved after the race. She looked great and I'm glad she came through,” said Baffert.
"She might be able to stretch out. She's getting older and more mature. That's one option I've been thinking about, but I don't know what we'll do next. I want to see how she comes out of this and I'll let her tell me.''
