Hibiscus Punch takes out Barbara Fritchie Stakes
Hibiscus Punch (6 m ex Bellini Sunrise, by Machiavellian) scored an upset victory in the Barbara Fritchie Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) at Laurel Park on Saturday to give last years USA Champion Sire Into Mischief (Harlan’s Holiday) his 87th stakes winner.
Hibiscus Punch raced in third position behind a fast pace, she swept up on the point of the home turn and broke clear maintaining a two and half length margin over Estilo Talentoso in second with a further three and half lengths back to Club Car (Malibu Moon).
Hibiscus Punch is one of eight winners for her dam Bellini Sunrise and is a sister to the stakes placed colt Into The Sunrise. Her second dam is the Listed winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Harbour Club (Danzig).
Into Mischief is standing at Spendthrift Farm in Lexington for a fee of US$225,000. He has two lots catalogued in the upcoming Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.
