Daughter of former shuttler Showcasing hands sire his 42nd stakes winner.
Former Haunui Farm shuttler Showcasing (Oasis Dream) was handed his 42nd stakes winner on Saturday courtesy of Bodhicitta's (4 m ex Solfilia by Teofilo) victory in the Yellow Ribbon Handicap (Gr 2, 8.5f) at Del Mar.
Having finished second in the Gamely Stakes (Gr 1, 9f) on May 25, the four-year-old appreciated the step back in class when just edging out Tonahutu - who is by Cornerstone Stud shuttler Sir Prancealot (Tamayuz) - by a nose, while Harmless (Creative Clause) finished another length and a quarter further away in third.
British-bred, Bodhicitta ended up in America after being purchased by Meah Lloyd Bloodstock for owner Calvin Nguyen for 60,000gns at the 2019 Tattersalls Guineas Horses in Training Sale, having been purchased by Church Farm for £55,000 at the 2017 Goffs UK Doncaster Premier Yearling Sales, before being snapped up by former trainer Michael O'Callaghan for £100,000 at the 2018 Goffs UK Breeze Up Sale.
Bodhicitta is one of three winners out of winning Teofilo (Galileo) mare Solfilia, who is out of two time winner Suntory (Royal Applause).
Suntory herself is a half-sister to Derby Trial Stakes (Gr 2, 1m2f) winner Fracas (In The Wings) and the grandam of German Listed winner I'll Have Another (Dragon Pulse) and dual Group 1 winner La Collina (Strategic Prince) and Listed-winning pair Entsar (Fastnet Rock) and Fox Chairman (Kingman).
Further back this is the same family as South African Derby (Gr 1, 2450m) winner Hero's Honour (Await The Dawn).
Showcasing's progeny is headed by elite-level-winning trio Mohaather, Quiet Reflection and Advertise and he now stands exclusively at Whitsbury Manor Stud where his fee in 2020 was advertised as £55,000.
