Armory, a Group winning son of Galileo (Sadler's Wells) will stand at Mapperley Stud in 2022 after being secured by the operation in partnership with Windsor Park Stud. Armory's fee is to be confirmed shortly.

Originally trained by Aidan O'Brien, Armory has raced 16 times for five wins and seven placings including the Group 2 Huxley Stakes (1m2f) while he is also multiple Group 1 placed including when second in the 2020 Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) and the Group 1 Criterium International (1400m) as a juvenile.

Last year, Armory was transferred to the stable of Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, however injury curtailed his career and he did not race for his new trainers.

"We are thrilled to have secured Armory with our good friends at Windsor Park. We have a great history of working together and both our studs are looking forward to getting behind this high-class son of Galileo," Mapperley Stud principal Simms Davison said.

"We are strong believers that the Cox Plate form represents the best of the best, especially for stallions retiring to stud in New Zealand as we've seen with Champion Sire Savabeel.

"It's the ultimate weight-for-age test and in his only Australian start, Armory demonstrated his brilliance and Group One ability to beat many of the best horses in the Southern Hemisphere."

Armory is out of the multiple Group placed Danehill Dancer (Danehill) mare After and Windsor Park's Rodney Schick is excited to be standing the son of Galileo in partnership with Mapperley Stud.

"Armory is a top-class racehorse with a high cruising speed who operated in the best company as a two, three and four-year-old," he said.

"It's a sire line we have had plenty of success with and one that is well adapted to the Australasian racing style. We are excited to partner with Mapperley Stud in standing him at stud."
