US$1.2 million daughter of American Pharoah breaks maiden
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Elfin Queen (3 f ex Pretty 'n Smart by Beau Genius) broke her maiden at the fourth time of asking when she took out the Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden (1m) at Naas on Monday.
The daughter of Coolmore shuttler American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) surged clear to beat Aunt Bee (Australia) by an impressive six and a half lengths with another three quarters of a length back to Getawiggleon (Rio De La Plata) in third.
Purchased by M.V. Magnier for a whopping US$1.2 million from the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, the filly is out of Grade 2-placed mare Pretty 'n Smart (Beau Genius), making her a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Cupid (Tapit) and Grade 3 winners Ashley’s Kitty (Tale Of The Cat) and Heart Ashley (Lion Heart), who in turn produced Grade 3 winner Fiano Romano (Fastnet Rock).
Ashley's Kitty, who was bought by James Bester Bloodstock for US$310,000 at the 2009 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, menwhile produced recent Peter and Paul Snowden-trained juvenile winner Concealed (Deep Field).
Pretty 'n Smart - who is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Hostess (Chester House) - also produced Listed winner Indianapolis (Medaglia d’Oro).
American Pharoah’s progeny is headed by seven stakes winners and he will stand at Coolmore’s Hunter Valley base for a fee of $55,000 (inc GST) in 2020.
At this year’s yearling sales in Australia the stallion had 55 yearlings sell for an aggregate of $13,800,543 at an average of $250,918.
Easy as you like.
