A look at the top performers for Zoustar in a record-equalling season
Nominator was Zoustar's final shot at owning the record for most individual winners in a season in Australia outright, but the four-year-old could manage only second-last placing as a $101 pop at Ballarat on Tuesday.
That means the Widden stallion will end the season with 208 winners, equal to the record that I Am Invincible set three years ago.
With one day to go in the season, only I Am Invincible, whose progeny have amassed more than $32 million in 2023/24, sits above Zoustar on the Australian Champion Stallion premiership with progeny of the son of Northern Meteor having amassed a tick under $24 million for the season.
Zoustar's season was highlighted by five Group 1 wins, with the Chris Waller-trained Zougotcha the dual winner thanks to victories in the Queen Of The Turf and Coolmore Classic.
It was another of his Group 1 winners who posted the highest Timeform figure of any of Zoustar's progeny, with Ozzmosis having run 120 to win the Coolmore Stud Stakes.
All up, Zoustar had 38 horses run a Timeform figure of at least 100 in Australia including Sangster Stakes winner Climbing Star (115), Kindergarten Stakes winner Espionage (113) and Thousand Guineas winner Joliestar (112).
Joliestar is also trained by Waller, who won more races (18) with Zoustar progeny than any other trainer for the season, while Queensland-based gallopers Transceltic and Tojaki were Zoustar's most successful horses for the season with five wins apiece.
Zoustar will stand the upcoming season at a fee of $275,000.
