Wings Of Desire emulated her most famous sibling, and one of Australia's greatest horses, when she got her career off to a winning start at Hawkesbury on Sunday.

The final foal out of Vegas Showgirl, the dam of the legendary mare Winx, Wings Of Desire was a soft winner of the 1100-metre maiden for fillies and mares.

The Michael Freedman-trained two-year-old, who is raced by her breeder John Camilleri, settled midfield on the inside but accelerated swiftly once a gap appeared in the home straight to score by 1-1/4 lengths.

Wings Of Desire is a three-quarter-sister to Winx, being a daughter of Pride Of Dubai, who is a son of Winx's sire Street Cry.

Sunday's win came a little over a month after the 10-year anniversary of Winx becoming the first winner for Vegas Showgirl when she won on debut at Warwick Farm.

El Divino (Snitzel), City Of Lights (Deep Impact) and Time Of My Life (I Am Invincible) are the other sons or daughters of Vegas Showgirl who won at their first start.

Wings Of Desire will forever be the final first-starter for Vegas Showgirl, who died late last year having failed to produce foals in her final two seasons.

Wings Of Desire was not the only well-related two-year-old to break their maiden at Hawkesbury on Sunday with After Match winning the 1100m event for male horses.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt is by Zoustar our Breakfast In Bed, which makes the $410,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast purchase a half-brother to dual Group 1 winner King's Legacy (Redoute's Choice).
