I Am Invincible’s fee cut

I Am Invincible will be crowned Australian Champion Sire for the third year running in three months' time, but Yarraman Park has taken the generous step of reducing his fee for the upcoming breeding season.

The son of Invincible Spirit will stand for $275,000, which includes GST, which is down from last year's inclusive fee of $302,500, which was a career high.

That 2023 fee did not deter breeders, with the 19-year-old serving 157 mares, but Yarraman keen to keep him accessible as he nears the twilight of his career.

"We've set Vinnie's fee at $250,000, plus GST, (and) we think that's a very reasonable fee considering he's on target to be champion sire for the third time and he was runner-up four times before that," Yarraman's Arthur Mitchell said.

I Am Invincible's progeny, which includes glamour sprint mare Imperatriz, has won $29,043,542 this season, which is almost $10 million more than his nearest rival Zoustar.

His 2024 fee is the second-highest of his career, which started at $11,000 in 2010.

He stood his first four seasons at that fee, rose to $27,500 in 2014, spent two seasons at $55,000, was $110,000 in 2017 and hasn't been below $192,500 since.

I Am Invincible is one of three stallions who will stand at Yarraman this year with Hellbent and Brave Smash both unchanged.

Hellbent, who is a son of I Am Invincible, will stand for $38,500 and Brave Smash (Tosen Phantom) $33,000.
