Mogumber Park-based first-season sire Rommel (Commands) sired his first winner when Ultimate Command (2 f ex Weona Lady by Lonhro) made a winning debut at Ascot on Saturday.

The two-year-old filly showed an impressive turn of foot to beat Flying Missile - who is by Woodside Park first-season sire shuttler Cable Bay (Invincible Spirit) - by half a length, while Astrape (Snitzel) was another length and a quarter away in third.

Purchased by her trainer Neville Parnham for $15,000 at Book 2 of the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale from the Mogumber Park draft, the filly is one of two winners out of Weona Lady (Lonhro) and she hails from the same family as Group 3 winner Scaredee Cat (Tale Of The Cat).

The filly also shares a page with three-time Group 1 winner Kinjite (Centaine) and Group 2 winner Icepin (Pins).

Parnham purchased Ultimate Command’s sister for $1,750 on the Inglis Digital April Online Sale earlier this year.

Rommel, who was trained by Neville Parnham to win the 2015 Zeditave Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) and 2014 WA Guineas (Gr 2, 1600m), stood at Mogumber Park in Western Australia in 2020 for a fee of $4,400 (inc GST).
