The Sun Stud-based Fiorente (Monsun) was handed his fifth stakes winner on Saturday courtesy of the Holly Taylor-trained Cousin Ivan's (3 g ex Chong Nonsi by Blackfriars) victory in the Aquanita Stakes (Listed, 2000m) at Belmont.

Last seen running fourth at the same track on June 27, the three-year-old gelding proved too strong for his rivals, beating Marocchino (Maschino) by half a length with the same distance back to Uncle Dick (Alfred Nobel) in third.

The gelding is out of six time-winning mare Chong Nonsi (Blackfriars), while further back this is the same family as Group 3-winning pair Spring Moss (Moss Trooper) and Biometry (Sledgehammer).

In 2017 Chong Nonsi produced a brother to Cousin Ivan before slipping to Fighting Sun (Northern Meteor) and Magnus (Flying Spur) the next two seasons and she has most recently been covered by Oratorio (Stravinsky).

Fiorente's 12 stakes winners are headed by Group 2-winning duo Stars Of Carrum and Hawkshot and he will stand the 2020 season for a fee of $17,600 (inc GST).
