Super Ten Opens His Account In Hong Kong

Ocean Park gelding hands brother pedigree update of sale

The Doug Whyte-trained Super Ten (3 g Ocean Park - Pastrana by Fastnet Rock) opened his account in Hong Kong when he broke his maiden at the fifth time of asking in the Roselle Handicap (1400m) at Sha Tin on Sunday and handed his brother a timely pedigree update ahead of him selling at next year’s Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

The son of Waikato Stud-based Ocean Park (Thorn Park) kept on strongly inside the final stages, eventually pulling clear to beat Leading Fortune (Siyouni) by a comfortable two and a half lengths, while Ultra Express (Power) was another neck away in third.

The gelding was purchased by M2 Racing for NZ$115,000 at Book 1 of the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale from the Waikato Stud draft in 2019, before being bought by George Moore Bloodstock for NZ$190,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale later on in the year.

The gelding is out of the unplaced Fastnet Rock (Danehill) mare Pastrana, who is herself a half-sister to the dam of Listed winner Born To Fly (Mossman).

Further back this is the same family as Listed-winning trio Loving Cup (Bluebird), Vintage Dance (Salmon Leap) and Laudemio (Alzao) - the grandam of Group 1 winner Sizzling (Snitzel).

The gelding also hails from the same family as Group 3 winner Shy Hero (Last Tycoon) and stakes winner Fullazz (Redoute’s Choice) - the dam of Group 1 winner and now Bowness Stud resident D’Argento (So You Think).

Stonehouse Thoroughbreds will offer the gelding’s brother as Lot 239 at next year’s Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
