R Star shines at Kokura.
Shadai Stallion Station-based sire Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha) sired his 22nd stakes winner on Sunday when R Star (5 h ex Wave Queen by Soccer Boy) landed the Kokura Kinen (Gr 3, 2000m) at Kokura.
Having the 18th start of his career, the five-year-old entire beat Satono Garnet (Deep Impact) by a length with another length and a quarter back to Outliers (Victoire Pisa) in third.
R Star is out of the winning Soccer Boy (Dictus) mare Wave Queen making him a half-brother to six winners. Wave Queen herself is a sister to multiple stakes winner Kyoto Queen.
Further afield this is the same family as February Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Sunrise Bacchus (Hennessy) and dual Grade 3 winner Sunrise Nova (Gold Allure) Makoto Sparviero (Brian's Time).
Lord Kanaloa stands at Shadai Stallion Station and his progeny include his multiple top flight winner Almond Eye and last season's Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Tagaloa.
