RANDWICK SATURDAY
RACE 2 (6) PIONEERING: Ready to win after three sound placings since resuming. Expecting her last start third over this course and distance on May 28 to have brought her to her peak as it was her first run over 1400m this prep and she gets a handy drop in weight of 4.5kg.RACE 8 (3) BROOK ROAD: Genuine mare can add to her excellent record at Randwick where she has been out of the money just once in five starts. Returns to town from a strong fourth over 1100m at the Scone Cup carnival and will eat up the heavy conditions, especially if the track is favouring the closers from the back.
RACE 9 (12) COSMOPOL: Plenty of improvement to come from this lightly-raced prospect after resuming with an eye-catching second over 1100m at this course on May 18 when he came from well off the pace. Yet to miss a place in seven starts and don’t expect his wide gate to be a great disadvantage in the heavy ground late in the day. He could also be ridden more aggressively, having shown good speed to lead in previous starts.
