RACE 2 (4) GOLD SEVENTY SEVEN: Looks a real talent on the rise after winning his first two starts with a lot of authority. Came off his maiden win at Newcastle to blitz a midweek field at Canterbury by almost five lengths in excellent figures. Obviously has a bright future and looks right up to this class with the in-form Hugh Bowman aboard.
RACE 3 (3) HARRIER JET: Fair to say he should be unbeaten in both starts at this course since resuming. Had them easily covered in his first-up win over 1200m and then rider took all the wrong options seeking a clear run when he finished hard late for a luckless third over 1400m on December 20. Gets Hugh Bowman back as his rider and well placed with a weight drop of 1.5kg to add his fourth win in just eight starts.
RACE 7 (10) MARDI: Quality mare had been trialling well before resuming with a close second after a tough run over 1250m at Canterbury carrying 58.5kg. That was just her third career start and first in 12 months since she was unluckily beaten over 1400m at this course in 2013. Gets a significant gear change with blinkers on for the first time and holds ample scope for improvement with a big weight drop of 4.5kg from her gallant first-up effort.
