HEAT 1 (Open – 1030m/1.03.00): LATIN NEWS has come up well after a winter break. Took command from the jump, travelled well within himself and under no pressure to the line for a soft win. Stablemate FLAMING ROCK took a lot of ground off the winner over last 100m and left others well behind. Third horse NEWELL was not extended while BRAYROAN (5th) was not asked to do a lot.

HEAT 2 (Open – 1030m/1.03.50: Group One winner SINCERO got the better of AHDASHIM in the drive to the line but the second horse could have won the trial if asked for an effort. He led easily and Sincero tracked him third before being pushed along last 100m to work to the line. Import CLASS IS CLASS warmed up late from the back, running on under a quiet ride.

HEAT 3 (3 & 4YO C/G Maiden – 1030m/1.04.1): QUARTERLY looks a good maiden prospect. Settled fifth, worked into clear and sprinted up to leaders for strong win. EXCITED PRINCE also got to the line strongly from back half without being fully tested. CLIFFSMAN shared lead and travelled well within himself. Given an easy time last 50m as was fourth horse TALLAT.

HEAT 4 (3YO Fillies Maiden - 1030m/1.05.00): CELEBRITY APPEAL led an pinched a break on a game MONACO DOLL, who sat three wide and put in to the line. Slow time but good effort from ROYAL SAPPHIRE sprinting home from the back and doing better than first pair last 50m.

HEAT 5 (Open 4YO & Up – 900m/54.4): Hot trial of the day featuring three G1 winners. It was run in two halves as the first three were the only ones intent on running along while the others were all given quiet trials and notably most were allowed to work through the line and run on beyond the post. DEE'N'GEE jumped to the front and was full of running. Had plenty in hand holding a good margin over AERONAUTICAL who raced kindly in second. RANGIRANGDOO was good, easily holding third place from the start. Expect the likes of SHOOT OUT and STREAMA to do a lot more if they trial again before resuming.

HEAT 6 (Open 4YO & 5YO – 900m/54.2): MONNIE'S DOUBLE is a runner and easily took control from the start and held together to the line. Impressed by POSH CHIC and her strong closing second, always travelling easily behind the leader and may well have won if asked for a serious effort. DAYMO also closed nicely under a hold for third after sitting wide.

HEAT 7 (Open 4YO & 5YO – 900m/53.6): MISS MARX and HYDROPOWER took control and sprinted away from the others from the turn. MISS MARX was always going the better and held her narrow advantage to the line with the second horse under more pressure. LOHENGRIN could have finished closer if asked for a serious effort last 200m.

HEAT 8 (Open 4YO & Up – 900m/54.8): CRADLE ME led and was ridden out being under more pressure than chasers for a narrow win in bunched finish. ANATOMIC, ANETO and QUADRANT all had easy times with the latter looking the one with most to offer late.

HEAT 9 – CANCELLED

HEAT 10 (3YO – 900m/54.4); High class pair EPAULETTE and RACEWAY dominated. Raceway led and kicked off the turn but was soon tested as EPAULETTE came off the fence from behind him and chased keenly from the 300m to get his measure at the 100m. Both were pushed out and will no doubt come on from this work. They got way from the others but SHAWANO worked home from the back within himself for third and SBOOG looked to have a good deal in reserve on the line.

HEAT 11 (3YO Fillies Maiden – 900m/55.3): LADY BOMBSHELL is a small racy type who had the speed to lead and fought on for a game win in slow time. EMPRESS ELECT went with her and tried hard. The one to note was the nice effort of NAGINI for third. She was too keen when restrained fifth off the pace and had plenty in hand under a hold on the line.

HEAT 12 (3YO Fillies Maiden – 900m/56.3): Very slow time may have flattered VARANASI but she did look good letting down from the rear with a very good sprint to record a soft win on the line. TRIPLE VANITY also ran on well while the effort of CATTLEDOG caught the eye having a quiet time back in fifth.

HEAT 13 (3YO Fillies Maiden – 900m/56.0): WIND BENDER showed a good change of gears to let down from fourth on the turn to easily get the better of the leaders and was eased down on the line. LUCIDITY and PINK ARGYLE showed pace and MANUELINE could have finished a lot closer if asked for an effort.

HEAT 14 (3YO C & G Maiden – 900m/54.8): Impressive trial from GREENBOW jumping to front to lead easily by three and opening up from the turn to score by 6.5 lengths with plenty in hand. Obvious first-up prospect. The effort of second horse GREENWICH was also worth noting as he was ridden kindly when the bird had flown and beat the others easily.

HEAT 15 (3YO C & G Maiden – 900m/54.4): CRUSADE looked the best of the maiden heat winners, improving off his Randwick trial last week to jog past the leaders after sitting third and going to the line under no pressure. Another smart one by Fastnet Rock! Solid efforts came from SENSE OF PLAY and PHOTON WILLIE.

HEAT 16 (3YO C & G Maiden – 900m/55.2): POWER STRUGGLE took advantage of a rails run to get the better of the leaders last 100m with something in hand. COMPLICATE led them up and rallied well under pressure. HEART TESTA put in a keen effort for third with SYDNEY ROCK admirable after sitting three wide.

HEAT 17 (4YO & Up Maiden – 900m/55.5): VULCANO went with the lead one off and after being headed picked up again late for a game win. KANYINI was the best trial, reaching the lead before being eased and could have won the heat.

HEAT 18 (4YO & Up Maiden – 900m/54.8): Only four runners with TO THE NORTH going clear and ridden along last 200m to hold advantage to the line. SPEEDING STAR was the one given an easy time back in third.
