Gilgandra racecourse is 450km west of Sydney and is the home of the Gilgandra Jokey Club. Gilgandra racecourse is a circular track and surrounds a nine hole golf course within its boundaries. The Gilgandra course is 1663m in circumference and 20 metres wide. The short home straight of only 200 metres gives on pace runners a distinct advantage. The track features a dip between the 1000m and 800m and there is slight rise in the straight.Gilgandra racecourse is built on a sandy loam base and is renowned as a good wet weather track.
The highlight of the year is Gilgandra Cup in January.
