Former Manly Sea Eagles grand final winger Michael Robertson bagged a double to get his battling London Broncos off the bottom of the Super League ladder.

Former Manly NRL winger Michael Robertson inspired London Broncos to a 36-0 rout of Wakefield to move his side off the bottom of the Super League table on Saturday.

Robertson, who won the NRL grand final with the Sea Eagles last year, crossed once in each half as the Broncos ran in seven unanswered tries against the Wildcats.

Another former Manly player, Michael Witt, added eight points with the boot while Luke Dorn also crossed for the London-based outfit.

The victory, only the Broncos' second of the season, means they leapfrog Widnes and move all the way up to 11th in the table.

Widnes slipped to the bottom after they were put to the sword by Clint Greenshields who ran in three of Catalans Dragons' 13 tries in a 76-6 mauling.

Also on the scoresheet were Daryl Millard and Louis Anderson, while young winger Damien Cardace enjoyed a debut to remember with four tries of his own.

Scott Dureau was on fire with the boot as he converted 11 of the team's 13 tries as the French club returned to their winning ways after a shock defeat to Wakefield last time out.

While Saturday's games dealt more with matters at the foot of the table, Friday's encounters shook things up at the top.

Tony Smith's Warrington came unstuck in dramatic fashion against St Helens, who have now beaten both reigning champions Leeds and the Wolves in successive games since the departure of head coach and former Australia assistant Royce Simmons.

St Helens raced out to a 22-0 lead against Warrington in the first half before tries from winger Joel Monaghan and fullback Brett Hodgson either side of half-time brought them back into it.

But a 67th-minute try from Sia Soliola, who made nearly 100 appearances in the NRL for the Sydney Roosters, effectively sealed the game for St Helens who ended up 28-16 winners.

And with the Wolves slipping up it was Nathan Brown's Huddersfield who profited most as they regained top spot with a hard-fought 22-12 win over Leeds.

Brown, who is leaving in the summer, saw his side race into an early lead with tries from Eorl Crabtree and Jason Chan.

And, despite a late try from prop Kylie Leuluai, the result never looked in much doubt as Leeds slumped to their second defeat in a row.

Elsewhere, administration-threatened Bradford showed plenty of spirit but eventually fell short against in-form Hull who have now won five games on the bounce.

Second-rower Willie Manu scored one of Hull's four tries as they ran out 24-18 winners while centre Keith Lulia crossed for the Bulls.

Wigan returned to form with a 40-20 win at Salford, George Carmont running in one of the Warriors' eight tries on the night.

And Nick Youngquest bagged a double for Ian Millward's Castleford Tigers, who finally returned to winning ways with a narrow 34-30 victory over Hull KR.
