Friday's Romford greyhound tips

ROMFORD hosts its usual Friday night open-race card tonight and punters can look forward to a host of good races - and a few high-profile names on the card, including the return of Coral Golden Sprint champion Front Alice, who looks to have a winning opportunity off the back of smart trials.

However, the first of the night's suggestions is Getup Me Boy (6.53) who makes the step up from four bends to six bends in a maiden stayers contest. Carol Weatherall's runner has lots of speed and has a real chance to cut loose and could get away, albeit stamina is taken on trust.

Mark Wallis has a fair spread of chances tonight at Romford and his strong-running Ballymac Johnjo (7.11) catches the eye in another 575m contest. The six-box has been running against better opponents of late including Havana Lover and Coonough Crow and should soon be handy on the outside.

Tom Heilbron enjoyed great success at Romford week and the team from the north east will fancy their chances of making a real splash again tonight - perhaps starting with Madabout Peck (8.19). He showed awesome pace when setting a new track record at Crayford recently and sparkled over C&D last week.

The aforementioned Front Alice (8.36) makes her return to the fray in a 400m bitches contest and can shine for Kevin Proctor over a C&D she loves as winner of this year's Coral Golden Sprint - fast trials suggest a quick return to winning ways, although a snappy start is required to put pressure on these.

The Heilbron camp will likely fancy their chances with Untold Rufiyaa (8.54) after his impressive UK debut seven days ago when he lines up in a Winner Of One Standard over 400m. Local Silver Bucks and Da Capsule both have lots of speed but so, too, does the raw Jan 23 whelp from Newcastle who can step up.

Tullymurry Dylan (9.11) has been racking up the wins of late and might be tough to beat when lining up for Maxine Locke in the sprint. He dead-heated in a sprint competition at last week's big Monmore meeting and brings a superb record to the table, although keeping fast-starting Front Mali at bay might be key.

Without Cause (9.28) was another of the Heilbron winners seven days ago and can follow up with another victory. He raced away for a brilliant 23.54 victory and might just get the jump on King Stevens and Whitewood Lenny, although with so much pace outside any mistakes would be costly.

Best race of the night is saved for last - appropriately named the Lucky Last Stakes - and this 575m contest features a host of regular winners with the likes of Fabulous Sonique and Mad For Sterling looking to improve fine recent records. However, Miami Bullet (9.46) has leadability claims if hitting his stride quickly and gets the vote for Paul Young.
