Mr Hanks has been able to secure his second win in a row taking out the Class 3 over 1200m at Kranji on Sunday.
The James Peters-trained runner showed plenty of ability as a juvenile, winning at Group 3 company but has struggled to get to that level the last twelve months during the three-year-old series.
Scoring a nice win in a Class 4 premier two starts back, Mr Hanks was able to back that effort up to win again on Sunday and run his highest Timeform figure since winning the Group 3 Juvenile Championship.
Mr Hanks who has now won four of 14 starts has certainly appreciated dropping back to the 1200m and now with a couple wins under his belt can continue to make his way through the grades.
On Friday night D’Great Boss produced a strong effort to claim the Class 4 Premier over 1200m, his second in a row.
The lightly raced four-year-old gelding has now won two of his three career outings and remains unbeaten on the polytrack.
Running to a Timeform figure of 69 when winning his maiden, D’great Boss improved again on Friday and ran to a new career peak Timeform figure of 71.
The son of Street Boss likes to settle up on the speed like he has in all three runs to date and seemingly a better horse on the polytrack is one to keep an eye on as he makes his way through the grades.
The race prior saw Lord O’Reilly bounce back to form with a win in the Class 3 over 1000m, getting the better of the fancied favourite Yulong Xiongyin.
Coming from well back in the field, Lord O’Reilly was able to wear down the leader Yulong Xiongyin to claim a narrow win with Charger back in third.
Lord O’Reilly relished the drop in grade after not having a great deal of luck in the Singapore Guineas the start prior.
Impressively, Lord O’Reilly was able to drop back from the mile on the turf to the 1000m dash on the polytrack in what was his first win over this trip.
With three wins from just the six starts now, Lord O’Reilly certainly appears to have plenty of ability and ran to a Timeform figure of 79 on Friday, well below what he has achieved previously.
With more improvement to come, he will no doubt return to stakes races at some stage based on what he has shown to this point.
