Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 23rd and 26th of June

The unbeaten Chopin's Fantaisie took another step forward on Monday evening when again raising the bar for trainer Michael Clements.

Successful in notching up the hat-trick, Chopin's Fantaisie again justified his heavy market support when very impressive under Vlad Duric.

In what was not an easy watch for favourite backers, Chopin's Fantaisie only got clear late, surging through a small gap inside the 100m.

Strung up for a run for a majority of the straight, it was easily his most impressive win and emphasised that he is just that, a winner.

The brother to champion Hong Kong galloper Ambitious Dragon, Chopin's Fantaisie obviously has a long way to go to reach those lofty heights, however he is clearly heading the right way.

Retired in 2015, Ambitious Dragon is one of the greatest horses in Hong Kong history.

The HOTY in 2011 and 2012, he won 13 of his 30 career starts, notched up two wins at the elite level and amassed more than $9Million(AUD) in prize money.

However unlike Chopin's Fantaisie, Ambitious Dragon took five starts to break his maiden status, saluting on debut for the Tony Millard stable in October 2010 (began his career with K W Lui).

Ambitious Dragon then proceeded to win nine of his next 12 starts and etched his way into the history books.

Chopin's Fantaisie made his debut back in May, working to the line strongly to score narrowly over 1100m.

Stepping up to 1400m at his next outing, Chopin's Fantaisie again proved too strong late, scoring narrowly from the Laurie Laxon trained Magic City.

Facing another test on Monday, Chopin's Fantaisie again rose to the occasion, carrying the topweight to victory in the Class 4 event.

Easily his most impressive win to date, Chopin's Fantaisie won soft on the line and with luck in running it's easy to suggest he would have spaced his rivals.

Improving seven pounds, Chopin's Fantaisie has now improved 14 pounds since his debut success and again returned decent figures against the clock.

He gives the impression he will be even better over further and appears more than capable of continuing his rise through the grades.

Although his wins are yet to be dominant, the spread of beaten margins give the indication of strong form.

The percentage of horses who win three races in a row is very minimal and the style at which Chopin's Fantaisie has done so suggests there are certainly more wins in store.

A rising 4YO, Chopin's Fantaisie is definitely one to place in your blackbook, he is one of the more promising horses currently in Singapore.
