It was a big few minutes for young Morphettville trainer Dan Shepherd when the three year old So Skilled gave him his first city winner in the 1200 metre opening race at Morphettville on Saturday.

Having the servicers of Joe Bowditch who described the gelding as a “nice animal” So Skilled came with a strong run over the last few metres to win.

Being under the care of Lloyd Kennewell, Sawaki settled in a midfield position before coming with a strong run to win.

Trainer Phillipe Huserot had reason to smile when his charge Chestnut Charlie gave him his first Australian winner in the 2040 metre fifth race.

Having the services of Emily Finnegan Chestnut Charlie led all the way.

A pick-up ride at the expense of the injured Jamie Kah saw Clare Lindop bring up a double when Roselli Sting won the 1200 metre sixth race.

Trained by Gordon Richards and winning his second race from seventeen starts Roselli Sting came from well back with a strong run in the straight to take the event.

Saturday Affair gave Shayne Cahill a pick up win when the gelding took out the 1800 metre final event.

Continuing the good strike rate of trainer Will Clarken, Saturday Affair was well placed.
