Red Bomber wins 2016 Tab Rewards Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Flemington (VIC), 1400m.
Red Bomber jumped well from barrier five and starting on the big Flemington bend took up the perfect one-out-one-back slot. Coming off the last corner, Red Bomber eased three out for a clear run. Patiently ridden, he held his position then passing the 200m Damian Lane got busy and the pair edged up alongside the leader and stuck his head out just before the line to win narrowly but gamely.
Burning Front led from the outset and was going along comfortably around the corner and into the straight where he tried break clear. Still in front at the 300m, the 200m and the 100m, it was not until the 50m that Red Bomber got to him, but Burning Front never gave way to lose narrowly.
Puccini tracked Red Bomber into the straight, tried to match him but never passed him yet found plenty, especially in the last 100m to grab third in a crowded finish.
