Soriano wins 2015 Auckland T’bred Breeders Stks Group 2 NZ$100,000 at Avondale (NZ) Fillies & Mares, 1400m.

Soriano, from barrier 13, dropped back to be fourth last upon settling. Jockey, Grant Cooksley was content to sit off the rails and near last as they rounded the bend and into the straight. As the field straightened her fate looked uncertain because she had a wall of horses in front of her but it was not long before her class became evident and at the 250m she gathered them in and a hundred metres later she was past them, full of running, and ran away as one would expect of such a quality mare.

Queens Rose was wide around the corner and also well back and tried to go with the winner at the 250m but had no chance yet finished the best of the rest to hold on well for second.

Kelly O'Reilly was handy enough as they approached the straight and grabbed a share of the lead passing the 300m and held on quite well to the line for a third.

Ultraviolet was last out, saved heaps of ground on the corner and shared the lead at the 200m but the effort told. Her fourth was a good run.
