Kapour wins 2015 McDonald House Winter Cup Listed $100,000 at Rosehill (NSW) 3yo+, 2400m.
Imported stayers filled the first five placings in this sevenhorse field. Kapour a winner of three races in France (up to 2000m), scored his first Australian win in easy fashion, also appreciating the Heavy8 conditions. He began well and soon took the lead. He then slowed the pace, travelling kindly, lifted the tempo rounding the home turn and raced away over the closing stages to win decisively, running the 2400m out strongly.
British-bred Bonfire raced outside the leader Kapour, travelling well. He briefly looked a threat on turning for home but then kept fighting on for second, having no chance with the winner, whom he conceded 5kg.
Another British-bred Danchai was third on the rails to the home turn and held on to take the minor placing while Irish-bred Gosh plugged on for (7.5 lengths) fourth with British import Our Voodoo Prince finishing (7.9 lengths) fifth.
