Top weight Bonaria (58.5kg), the $3.50 favourite, enjoyed a perfect run in fourth place, one out and one back. She moved up nicely on straightening, took the lead at the 300m and then battled on well to score by a length.

Text ‘n’ Hurley was back in fifth place on the rails to the turn but was under pressure on turning for home. She took quite a while to wind-up but she did so nearing the 200m and then came with a strong late run for a good second , looking suited to further than yesterday’s 1600m.

WA-trained mare Bippo No Bungus followed the winner, racing in sixth place one off the rails. She went to second at the 100m and then kept battling on quite well for third.

Are There Any was handy on the rails to the turn and fought on to dead-heat for fourth with Godspiel who ran on quite well after being last in the eight-horse field at the turn.
