Fillydelphia went one better than last year to claim the Sunshine Coast Cup on Australia Day.
Last year’s runner-up Fillydelphia proved too good this year.
She was midfield in the early stages but improved wide with cover to be a handy fourth at the 600m. Damian Browne eased her deep rounding the home bend, she took the lead at the 200m and then raced clear to score comfortably by a length and a half.
Benny’s Buttons was a handy third, got into the clear at the 200m and fought on in his usual honest fashion for second while the Peter Moody-trained Club Command ($2.80 fav) was in a nice position, sixth between runners at the 600m and kept running on for third after appearing to have every chance.
Steel Zip was midfield and wide at the 800m and ran on to take fourth, beaten two and a quarter lengths.
