Someday backed up his strong run in the George Moore with a win in the Brisbane Handicap.
The favourite Someday ($3.40) was first away from his good barrier (2) and was then eased to enjoy an ideal run in third place on the rails.
He was blocked at the home turn but got a split between runners at the 300m, took the lead at the 100m and went on to win well by almost a length.
Essington was seventh on the rails most of the way to the turn. He got through along the rails to be third at the 150m and ran on quite well for a good second, beaten three quarters of a length.
Black Cash ($4.60) soon led, then steadied the pace (first 1000m 62.10) before grabbing a break turning into the straight. He was headed nearing the 100m and then held on quite well for third, beaten just over a length.
The second favourite Fillydelphia ($3.50) raced outside the leader most of the way to the home turn, but was under pressure on straightening and weakened to finish a disappointing eighth, beaten four and a half lengths.
