Peter Snowden pair Complicate and Academus grabbed the quinella.
Darley’s in-form stable finished the day with first and second in this Listed event with two of their smart four-year-olds.
Complicate settled well in fifth spot, one off the rails. He went wide approaching the home turn, dashed to the front at the 200m and went to the line strongly for an impressive win.
His stablemate Academus was back in eighth place, wide with cover, before fanning wide rounding the home turn. He then put in a quick run, going to second at the 100m and then battled on gamely for (one length) second. He gave the winner 3.5kg and it was a strong first-up performance.
Cascabel was near last to the 600m and made ground late for a sound third, beaten just over five lengths.
