Kalgoorlie Cup - September 21

Classique Ivory cashed in on a consistent run of recent form to claim the $150,000 Kalgoorlie Cup.

Classique Ivory was eased at the start from his wide barrier (13) and settled second last in the 15-horse field.

He was giving the leader about ten lengths as he started to improve passing the 600m. He saved ground going between runners at the home turn, switched out at the 100m and came with a late bid to grab a neck win at the post.

Starlight Lady was last to the 600m, switched out wide at the home turn and came with a late run for second.

Imperial Command raced in second place and looked the winner as he dashed to the lead nearing the home turn. He was not headed until the 50m mark and then held on for third.

Big Josh was handy all the way and battled on for fourth while the favourite Fanicio ($5), the recent Boulder Cup (Listed, 1760m) winner was shuffled back to near last at the 200m and was a late-closing fifth, beaten just over two and a half lengths.
