The Melbourne Mail - September 22

The Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes is one of the best betting races on the calendar and this year there is a bumper betting card around it.

As always, the chances run deep in the Rupert Clarke, with the vast majority of the field coming off strong last start efforts.

A mix of formlines, including a little bit of international flavour, make it a truly interesting race that is sure to have a wide range of opinions going in.

That leads to great betting and one that we are keen to have running for us at the early quote is Fastnet Tempest.

He posted a cracking effort first-up in a high-rating race and the form has been working out well. A win over leading market chance Land Of Plenty at the course and distance just a couple of starts back is another positive and we don't need to many ticks to be having something on him at quotes around 25-1.

For our best on the card we will roll back to race five, an 1100m handicap, where Whypeeo appeals second-up off a return run that was probably better than it looked.

There he matched motors with Ball Of Muscle who has since gone to Sydney and won The Shorts - so the form has a warm look about it - and he looks really well handicapped back to much lesser company now.

His second-up run last time around was a cracker behind Champagne Cuddles in a Group 3 in Brisbane and a repeat of that would see him take a power of stopping from the minimum here.
