Best From The West - May 19

The Adam Durrant trained New Age couldn't have been more impressive in her return last start and appears well placed to go back to back at Ascot on Saturday.

Only lightly raced, New Age came a long way in a short period last preparation and picked up right where she left off.

Returning over the mile at Pinjarra, New Age was ridden patiently and kept out of trouble by Pike, travelling wide for the majority.

Brought to the outside on straightening, New Age ambled up to them before putting them to the sword shortly after.

Drawing away to score by two lengths, she was marked just shy of her peak, a great sign for this preparation.

The decision to stay at a mile is a tick and while the wide draw may appear dicey on paper, it will keep her out of trouble and allow her to find her feet, as she was likely to go back anyway.

At the weights she appears very well placed on best form and should take a power of beating.

As much as $3.60 was bet early (luxurious odds) with 2-1 still available.

Have her marked an even money shot and more than happy to bet up, suspect she is very very good.

In the last the Team Williams trained Forceful is expected to go back to back following a very impressive return.

His second win from five starts, Forceful toyed with his rivals, settling towards the rear before sweeping down the outside in the straight.

Successful in returning a new career peak, he appears more than capable of taking that next step and with the Wizard sticking aboard, he ticks a lot of boxes.

The firm track on Saturday is the one possibly query, both his wins have come on soft tracks, however confident it is a non-issue.

While he is likely to concede them a start, in the big field there should be enough pressure to bring him into the race.

If able to springboard off his first up win, he is sure to take a power of beating.
