Sydney Specials: Warwick Farm – July 8

James Cummings commences a new chapter at Warwick Farm on Saturday and can get it off to a winning start.

The nine race card at Warwick Farm shapes as a challenging one with the best bets looking to come earlier in the program.

Philosophy is expected to build on her first up win by making it two from two in the Australian Turf Club fillies and mares Benchmark 83 Handicap (1300m).

The daughter of Street Cry won on resuming, winning a fillies and mares Benchmark 72 at Canterbury over 1200m on June 21.

While the margin reads only a nose, the win was most appealing with Philosophy displaying a good turn of foot over the closing stages.

She will be fitter for the run and finds a race here in which she can continue progressing through the grades.

From barrier 2, Corey Brown should give Philosophy an ideal run in behind the early leaders and from there it should merely be a case of getting her into the clear on straightening.

She shapes as one of the more progressive types racing at Warwick Farm on Saturday and could be responsible for providing James Cummings with his first win as Godolphin Head Trainer.

Wild Heart at double figures is worth some thought in the TAB Rewards Handicap (1200m).

The race is a strong one with a half dozen of these runners showing a lot of promise early in their careers.

Of the useful ten horse field, only two have won over 1200m, Wild Heart and Lippizan.

Wild Heart’s win came at this track on June 12 where he defeated subsequent stakes winner Curdled.

With form out of the race holding up after the runner up claimed the Winning Edge Stakes (1350m) at Doomben, Wild Heart ticks the right boxes and is worth a good look at his current double figure quote.

He shapes as being over the odds in a race where they only have eyes for Jenny Graham’s boom two-year-old Awesome Pluck.
