Pepperano will finally get her chance for a much deserved win when she lines up in the Class 3 plate (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Returning from a lengthy spell, the Liam Birchley-trained runner has finished a narrow second in both outings this campaign and will appreciate the step up to 1350m for this.
Has been freshened following her last start effort over the 1200m at Doomben and won a recent trial at Deagon which should have her ready to fire today.
Only lightly raced, Pepperano rates well against her rivals today on recent efforts and she gets in very well with the 2kg claim for apprentice jockey.
Takes on a big field and has drawn a touch awkward in barrier 14 today but would expect her to not be far away in the run having gone forward both outings this campaign.
Current price of $3.80 looks a good price for a horse with her form and with some luck will be very hard to hold out.
The last race of the day will see a big field line up in the Class 6 Plate over 1200m.
Man Of His Word produced a good effort to win over 1200m at Eagle Farm last start and he rates well very against his rivals today on recent form.
Fifth up now, the Bruce Hill-trained runner should get a good run from barrier 2 and won’t find this any tougher to what he took on last start.
Jeff Lloyd who has been riding in terrific form of late remains on board and coming back to Doomben should not pose any dramas for the four-year-old.
The current price of $6 looks a good each way bet, having been in the mix all four runs this campaign against some handy opposition.
Shamfrancisco comes off two solid wins and looks the main danger but goes up in grade for this and will need to improve again.
Good Luck!!
