Volcanic Ash has been causing those in the Indonesian archipelago plenty of grief lately, but Volcanic Ash can be a positive down in Melbourne Town.
The people of Indonesia, and those looking to travel there, have been inconvenienced over the past few weeks as five volcanoes erupted, firing ash and debris into the air and clouding the region's skies.
Three weeks ago at Caulfield there was a similar rumbling, as the Mick Price-trained Volcanic Ash erupted around the 1400m course, spiking his Timeform rating up into the sky with a clear new peak performance.
It's not spring time just yet, it's mid-winter. So it's not a time conducive to large eruptions, and a Timeform rating of 91p isn't about to win Volcanic Ash any major prizes, but it's good enough to see him pick off another handicap and he's found an ideal race around the same course and distance this Saturday.
The pyroclastic flow (the gas and rock that flows from an erupted volcano according to Wikipedia) from Volcanic Ash's latest eruption has been note worthy. Raposo and Herstory have gone on to impressive wins and Zahspeed has also come out and won, with all three improving their rating - albeit slightly - from that day.
If Volcanic Ash can continue to spiral upwards it's hard to see him not blanketing his rivals again on Saturday.
An each way play comes later on the card with It's About You.
It's About You returns to Melbourne after two runs in Sydney, the latest best completely overlooked.
His form at the Valley when shaping well behind Radical reads well and he shouldn't have any issues going to 2400m.
At prices around the $6-7 he's well worth a ticket.
