Mount Nebo resumed in very good order at Sunshine Coast last start and looks hard to go past again when stepping out at Doomben on Saturday.
The Allan Denham-trained runner was very competitive last campaign and is building an impressive career record.
Mount Nebo rates well against these on his last start effort and despite not having an outstanding second up record looks very hard to go past in this company.
Leading local jockey Damian Browne takes the ride for the first time and from barrier 5 would expect him to settle just off the pace.
The five-year-old gelding does possess a better record over a shorter trip but ran well for third over 1200m at Rosehill last campaign and if he runs up to that will be very hard to hold out.
Architect has been very consistent of late and looks the obvious danger but on best form still has a bit to find on Mount Nebo.
The current price of $3 for Mount Nebo looks pretty good but wouldn’t take anything under $2.70.
Later in the day Passatorio (Race 5#8) will look to build on his good recent form, having been very consistent in recent times.
Resumed in good order with a win and has since gone on to place in two of his last three outings, not having much luck when runner up at Sunshine Coast last start.
Drops back to the 1000m today where he was won 2/4 and Damian Browne who has a very good record on the horse remains on board.
Has drawn very wide in barrier 17 but expect Browne to take him forward and the current price of $9 looks very good odds for what he has produced of late.
Looks a fairly open race with no real standout and if he holds his recent form there is no reason he won’t be somewhere in the finish and looks a very strong each way hope.
Last week saw our first bet of the say Oriental Lady run a close fourth behind Perplexity whilst the second bet of the day Hopfgarten was unable to reign in Sir Moments when second in the Logic Tails Stakes.
Good Luck!!
