Jockey Tye Angland boasts a strong book of rides at Randwick on Saturday spearheaded by Society Man and Territory.
Angland’s last raceday visit to Randwick yielded a winning treble on July 12 and appears well placed for more success on the Kensington track this Saturday.
Six of Angland’s seven rides at this stage appear poised to go around at single figure odds and arguably his best comes in the last race, the TAB Rewards Benchmark 85 Handicap (1400m).
Society Man will start as favourite in the event after two seconds so far this campaign, the latest when beaten a nose by Burbero at this course a fortnight ago.
It was a huge run by the Pins gelding who settled back and wide before rattling home late only to lose in a photo finish.
He will strip fitter for the outing and is yet to run out of the money in three prior third up runs.
The rising six-year-old rates highest amongst this field on 50 day weight adjusted Timeform ratings and should still be open to further improvement early in his campaign.
While he was caught wide with no cover throughout at this track last start, Society Man with even luck on Saturday should get a nice run in behind the speed.
It should be a case of third time lucky this prep for Society Man on Saturday.
Earlier in the program, Angland rides Territory in The July Sprint (1150m).
The Jarrod Austin-trained gelding is second favourite behind favourite Casual Choice who ran second as our Each Way Play at Rosehill last Saturday.
Casual Choice rates on top amongst this field on his latest display however the near each way odds about Territory in a race lacking depth has more appeal.
Territory is building into his current campaign beautifully, having improved with each run.
His last start third in the Ramornie Handicap (1200m) at Grafton was a real eye catcher.
The gelding settled last and was caught deep but charged home into third behind the talented Big Money who enjoyed a far cosier run in transit.
Big Money has quite the boom on him while second placegetter Rocky King then won his last start at Eagle Farm.
Form out of the Ramornie looks set to hold up and Territory can play his role in franking it on Saturday.
The July Sprint shapes as a suitable race for Territory who at this stage will face just seven rivals, more than half of which sit outside the handicap.
Usually one to settle back, the gelding won’t have to give the early leaders too much of a head start and can charge over the top of them in the concluding stages.
He should be around optimum fitness at this point of his prep and ready to fire.
