Chewychop possesses plenty of appeal at Randwick tomorrow in the St George Motor Boat Club Handicap (1400m).

The Darren Smith-trained gelding is showing a lot of promise early in his career and did an excellent job when contesting the lucrative Inglis Guineas (1400m) at Scone last start.

Chewychop to some extent was thrown in the deep end last start after a slender first up victory in a No Metro Win event at Warwick Farm.

The Bradbury’s Luck gelding measured up well as he settled fourth slightly wide and fought hard in the straight.

He was only outgunned late by swooper Taxmeifyoucan and running third in the event augers well for Chewychop’s chances at Randwick on Saturday.

The performance yielded the gelding a new master Timeform rating of 101, 18 pounds superior to his previous peak figure.

Saturday’s St George Motor Boat Club Handicap also looks a step down in grade for Chewychop.

From barrier 1, expect Chewychop to take up a forward position and perhaps settle one off the rail.

With added fitness third run back from a spell, it should just be a matter of Glyn Schofield finding clear running room in the straight as the pair dash away and live up to their favouritism status.

She’s Clean whilst being dealt an awful barrier is capable of overcoming it in the Listed June Stakes (1200m).

The Chris Waller-trained mare was fantastic on resuming last start at this track over 1100m, settling midfield and overpowering her rivals late.

She’s Clean will take plenty of benefit from the run and proved herself at stakes level prior to a spell when winning the Triscay Stakes (1200m).

Promising young jockey Jason Collett can hopefully find some cover from barrier 18 and with just a few favours, expect the four-year-old to continue on her winning ways.

Waller is hopeful She’s Clean’s next start after this will be the Group 1 Winter Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 22 so the mare really should be collecting the June Stakes (1200m) on the way.

Stablemate Trick Shot is currently equal favourite in the Alea Actuarial Maiden Handicap (2000m) earlier on the program.

Trick Shot has been busy this campaign and whilst busy, hasn’t produced anything to suggest she has strong claims in a weekend city class event.

The Al Maher mare now contests an event against a number of improving fillies and mares likely to have more upside earlier in their preparations.

Seven of her rivals in this field have run to higher peak Timeform figures during their careers and Trick Shot’s battling third at Canterbury last start doesn’t exactly scream $5 favourite at Randwick on a Saturday.
