Sam King landed 25/1, 40,1 and 10/3 winners last week and is back with two selections on Monday…
Thirsk 4.50 - Fibonacci Sequence
George Scott has enjoyed an excellent weekend, courtesy of Bay City Roller's Champagne Stakes success and Pwydwen's German St Leger victory. The Hamilton Road-based handler is operating at a 23% strike rate over the last fourteen days and sends one horse to Thirsk this afternoon.
Fibonacci Sequence looked like a major work in progress when an eye-catching fourth on debut at Wolverhampton before once again showing signs of inexperience at Chelmsford next time. The daughter of Gleneagles, who was stepping up to a mile at the Essex venue, did well to get on top in the closing stages that day, leaving the impression that there should be plenty more to come.
It's not surprising that connections have opted to send her straight into handicap company off an opening mark of 68 and the booking of Callum Rodriguez, who has been used successfully across the north by Scott this season, also catches the eye.
Lokana looks like the obvious danger, but with David O'Meara's more exposed filly now topping the market, the value surely lies with Fibonacci Sequence.
Odds – 11/4
Kempton 4.55 – Me Tarzan
We head to Kempton for our second selection. The opening seven-furlong nursery looks a particularly interesting puzzle, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were a couple of well-handicapped lurkers off their opening marks. One of which, Me Tarzan, could prove the value play on his nursery bow for a red-hot trainer.
The James Fanshawe team arrive operating at a staggering 34% strike rate over the last fortnight, with ten winners from their 29 runners. Form figures of 988 hardly look convincing for Me Tarzan, but he's shaped much better than the bare result in his three qualifying runs and should now be operating at a level at which he can be competitive.
Outpaced over six furlongs in all three outings to date, it's hardly surprising he now steps up to seven on his nursery debut. The form of his opening Yarmouth contest continues to catch the eye, with even the tenth-placed horse going on to make a successful start in nurseries at Wolverhampton last week.
Stall ten might not be ideal, but with an opening rating of 53 to go to war with, Me Tarzan remains well worth chancing in a wide-open-looking nursery.
Odds – 6/1
