Goulburn District Race Club is this week recognising the great results its local training hub has secured throughout 2023 and during the 2022/23 racing season.
On Thursday afternoon the tablelands club will hold a trainers recognition function giving trainers and staff a chance to come together and celebrate the year's efforts with some Christmas cheer.
Goulburn Race Club's CEO, Robyn Fife said the results reflect the great energy and investment that local trainers have put in over the past year.
"There has been some really positive stories come out of the club in terms of trainer achievement in recent times, that we as a club are keen to recognise and reflect on," Ms Fife said.
"There are too many to mention all individually but for us highlights include collectively winning a record 16 TAB Highway Handicaps at Saturday metropolitan race meetings to start with.
"Also, having two Goulburn-trained horses in The Kosciuszko on TAB Everest Day (Front Page & Mogo Magic) and seeing Front Page (trained by Matt Dale) win the race," Fife referenced.
"Locally Danny Williams reclaimed the Goulburn premiership in 2022/23 and Mogo Magic (trained by Scott Collings) produced three Saturday city wins including two Highway Handicaps and a Benchmark 72 Handicap."
Ms. Fife said the club would also like to genuinely thank all the trainers, owners, industry participants and members who have supported Goulburn as a club over the calendar year.
"We understand the investment of time, money and hours on the road many of our visitors commit to in being part of Goulburn race meetings and we sincerely appreciate that."
"We also acknowledge the sponsorship support we receive locally, in particular that of Goulburn Soldiers Club who recently committed majority support to help make our new broadcast big screen a reality."
Other Goulburn racing highlights of the past 12 months include:
• Cavalier Charles (Matt Dale – 2nd) & Bandi's Boy (Danny Williams -3rd) placed in The Barn Dance on Big Dance Day.
• A break out season for Danielle Seib, netting 4 Highway handicaps along the way.
• To The Nines (trained by Tash Burleigh) runner-up in the Newhaven Park Country Championships Southern Wildcard (March).
• Mosgold (Tash Burleigh) – winner of the Newgate Farm The Guy Walter on Goulburn Cup Day.
• Body Bob (Pat Murphy) – two-time city winner and the new Canterbury 1250m track record holder.
• Outahand (Emma Longmire) – winner of the Graeme Spackman Country Magic on Goulburn Cup Day
Goulburn Race Club will host its final meeting of the calendar year on Friday 15th December with the feature of the popular Christmas meeting being the Fred Cooper Cup.
