Two races on Saturday’s Newbury card to be part of World Pool.
Thursday 18 May, 2023 – World Pool, the globe's largest commingled horse racing pools created and powered by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), will be in action for the first time at Newbury on Lockinge Stakes Day, on Saturday 20 May.
Two races on Newbury's card will be globally commingled – the G1 Lockinge Stakes and London Gold Cup Heritage Handicap – with pool betting operators from 28 countries betting into World Pool. This is the first time the HKJC are taking a part-meeting for World Pool.
There will be six bet types on offer – Win, Place, Quinella, Quinella Place (Swinger), Forecast (Exacta) and Tierce (Trifecta).
Lockinge Day is the second UK World Pool fixture this year, following on from a record-breaking 2000 Guineas Day at Newmarket earlier this month, which saw turnover of HK$268.9m (approx. £27.5 million).
World Pool ambassador Frankie Dettori, who rode Chaldean to victory in the 2000 Guineas, will once again be in the Juddmonte silks in the G1 Lockinge, with the legendary rider set to partner the John & Thady Gosden-trained Laurel.
Following Newbury, World Pool will next be in action at Epsom on Saturday 3 June for Derby Day.
