Positive vet reports have improved the chances of Provincial Championship qualifiers Old Man Sam and Can’t Find Snippy lining up in the $500,000 final at Randwick on Saturday.
The Michael Tubman-trained Old Man Sam has been troubled by a foot abscess while Can’t Find Snippy, also trained at Kembla Grange by Michelle Ritchie, has been suffering with the same problem.
Old Man Sam galloped on Tuesday and was then inspected by his stable vet who advised that while Old Man was still a little sensitive in the foot the condition had improved.
Tubman advised Old Man Sam will be inspected by his vet again later this week and he will continue to advise stewards on the gelding’s progress.The stewards advised Tubman that Old Man Sam will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing in The Final.
Can’t Find Snippy was inspected by vet Dr Mitchell Brown on Tuesday and he found the abscess sustained to the gelding’s near fore foot had continued to improve.Dr Brown advised he will conduct a further assessment of Can’t Find Snippy on Thursday.
Can’t Find Snippy also requires a veterinary clearance prior to racing in Saturday’s Final.Old Man Sam qualified for the Provincial Championship Final with a second in the Kembla Grange heat while Can’t Find Sniper earned his place when third in the Gosford heat.
