Racing and Sports have scanned the stewards’ reports to find the key information punters need to know from Australian racing on Tuesday August 23.
Gosford:
She's A Rainbow (Race 1): from the 500m until approaching the 100m was badly held up and unable to improve. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Zizou Supreme (Race 2): When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, rider T Clark stated that his mount travelled well in the lead throughout and when placed under pressure on straightening his mount sustained only a short sprint before weakening badly over the final 150 metres and in his opinion was very disappointing. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.Ready Kwila (Race 4): When questioned rider G Buckley explained that he felt that his mount may have got its tongue over the bit and may have held its breath. He added that he recommended to connections that a tongue tie be applied to the gelding at its next race start. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer O'Gorman was advised that prior to Ready Kwila racing again a veterinary certificate of fitness, including the results of an ECG, must be produced and the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards.
Island Grange (Race 5): slow to begin and shortly after the start bumped with Right As Rain. Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn and continued to hang out when placed under pressure in the straight.Barricade (Race 6): proved difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer A Denham was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding's record with regard to its barrier manners. Slow to begin and shortly after had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Swingset which shifted in. Was briefly held up on straightening and near the 200m had to shift out across heels to improve into clear running.
Talisker (Race 6): slow to begin. When questioned rider R Hutchings stated that the gelding, which was having its first race start, raced very greenly throughout and added that in his opinion would derive benefit from today's run.Bring Luck (Race 7): slow to begin (2L).
Busting Through (Race 8): slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer A Kehoe was advised that prior to Busting Through being permitted to race again a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced.Update your Racing and Sports black book.
