It pays to keep the sharp Nick Olive yard very safe when you’re punting at Canberra and he lines up six runners at Friday’s Capital Cash meeting.
In the first race the debutant Fox Tails will fly the stable flag coming off an Albury trial win.
Olive says the 2yo Foxwedge colt is still new but “…everything he does he keeps improving.
“He gives me a nice feel and I am very happy with him going into this race.
“There is a bit of a boom on Bede Murray’s horse, but I definitely think he will run a nice race.”
Pixie Rose took out a Canberra Maiden on resumption at long odds and steps up to CL2 company in Race 2.
Olive says she had won two jump-outs and the biggest surprise was the price.
“She’s been going super, but steps into a much harder race on Friday.
“Whether she has the ability to win it I don’t know, but she will run a nice race.”
Race 5 Sequoia Sunrise is the Olive representative.
“She won well two-back and was a bit unlucky the other day getting a bad check half way down the straight. She going well. It’s a bit of a step up in class, but I feel she will be around the money.”
Olive says Race 6 looks a nice race for Lock The Doors.
“The race isn’t as strong was we thought it would be.
“There’s just a slight question mark about whether he is looking for 1100m or further, but we’ve freshened him up this week and this looks like a very nice race for him.”
Lord Of The Isles in Race 7 has been very disappointing. “We thought he could win last start but he was disgraceful.
“We may push him out over further if he shows some improvement on Friday, but he needs to very soon.”
In the final event Alba Gu Brath would appreciate some rail according to Olive. “A wet track would bring him into play and the step-up to the mile suits.”
On Saturday Rose Of Falvelon will represent the stable at Royal Randwick (Race 8) with apprentice Andrew Adkins taking 3kg off her back.
“She is going well but is probably coming to the end of her career. She will run well, but where she fits in I am not sure.”
